At Galway Uke Fest, we’re committed to delivering a fun, inclusive, and music-filled festival that celebrates creativity while respecting the environment. We believe in doing our bit to support a greener Galway and a more sustainable future for festivals everywhere.

1. Our Commitment

We are actively working to reduce our environmental impact and promote sustainability throughout the festival. From vendor partnerships to waste management, we prioritise choices that are good for the planet and good for the community.

2. What We’re Doing

Minimising Waste

  • We avoid single-use plastics across the site and require third-party vendors to use recyclable or compostable materials wherever possible.

  • We keep all printing (e.g., tickets, programs, posters) to a minimum and use digital communications where we can.

  • We promote a clean site ethos—encouraging all attendees to take responsibility for their rubbish, with visible signage and support from our dedicated clean-up crew at Father Burke Park.

Supporting Local

  • We exclusively partner with local businesses for everything from food and drink to merchandise and staging.

  • All our merch is locally sourced, helping us reduce transport emissions and support the Galway creative community.

Low-Impact Travel

  • Our festival is fully accessible by foot from anywhere in Galway’s West End and Latin Quarter.

  • We actively encourage walking, cycling, and public transport, helping us reduce our carbon footprint while boosting community connection.

Working to Standards

  • All festival planning and site activity adheres to Galway City Council’s environmental and accessibility standards.

  • We collaborate closely with local authorities to ensure best practices are followed at every stage.

3. Looking Ahead

We are committed to building on our sustainability efforts year after year. Future goals include:

  • Exploring reusable cup and dishware options for on-site food and drink vendors.

  • Introducing clearer recycling and composting systems across the festival.

  • Partnering with environmental organisations to deepen our impact and educate our audiences.

4. What You Can Do

Our community plays a vital role in keeping Galway Uke Fest green. Here’s how you can help:

  • Bring your own water bottle or reusable cup.

  • Use bins responsibly and follow signage at the festival hub.

  • Support local by choosing Galway-based food, drink, and merch.

  • Walk, cycle, or take public transport to join the fun.

5. Let’s Celebrate Sustainably

Music brings people together—and we believe it can help build a better world too. We’re proud to be a part of Galway’s sustainable future and thank you for helping us make the festival cleaner, kinder, and more connected.
